This thesis considers the life of Arthur Hugh Clough and his short and long poems, especially Ambarvalia, The Bothie of Tober-na-Vuolich, Amours de voyage, The mystery of the fall, Dipsychus and other moral and religious poems. After a discussion of the Songs in absence and also Mari Magno, it concludes that Clough's peoms are most interesting when they reveal most of his own nature.
