Abstract

Volume I contains the research component of the thesis; this consists of a literature review, an empirical paper and an executive summary. The first paper presents a qualitative meta-synthesis on the psychosocial impact of a sexually transmitted disease at the individual level. The second, which is the empirical paper, uses quantitative methods to explore the relationship between STD related stigma, shame, perceived risk and sexual behaviour in adolescents.
