Abstract

This thesis presents an in depth look into the design and construction of a series of new co-magnetometry experiments. Work to design a high performance magnetic shield that minimises magnetic shield noise whilst maintaining a larger internal volume is detailed. A high-performance magnetic coil assembly that optimally fits within a cylindrical environment is designed and implemented. Preliminary work to characterise one of the co-magnetometry systems utilising novel high pressure 87Rb - 21Ne atomic vapour cells is conducted. This presented possible multiple Lar-mor precession resonances within the vapour cell, representing new physics. The creation of separated regions within the vapour cell due to high diffusion times is hypothesised and offered for further investigation.
