| AbstractThis is a piece of research examining the role played by Irish Catholic Chaplains during the First World War. In particular I have examined the role of Irish Nationalism amongst the Catholic Chaplains as well as Irish soldiers and also the levels of religiosity amongst Irish Catholic soldiers. I have also examined the attitude of the Irish Catholic Hierarchy to the issues of support for the war as well as recruitment and conscription. |
