Abstract

This thesis explores the Gospel manuscript GA 655. Chapter One provides a description of the manuscript, its production, contents, features, scribe and scribal habits. Chapter Two delves into the biblical text of the four Gospels, considering their textual affinity, scribal errors, and provides a commentary on the influence of the lectionary incipits on some passages and other variants from the Majority text. Chapter Three examines the marginal scholia which accompany the biblical text, with a commentary on significant scholia such as those that emphasise familial relationships. The relationships between GA 655 and other marginal scholia manuscripts, like GA 028 and GA 200, are also highlighted in their corpus of scholia. Chapter Four describes the lectionary contained in GA 655, both in its lectionary tables and the marginal lectionary notations. The lectionary places GA 655 in its historical and functional setting. This manuscript study shows how it has transmitted the text of the four Gospels in Greek, along with its paratextual features, exegetical scholia and lectionary.
