Abstract
The purpose of this work is to provide a constructive and ecumenical concept of faith that is pneumatologically centered. As such, this work begins by analyzing the concept of faith within philosophical and theological concepts, identifying problems inherent with predominant, doxastic models of faith. The problems identified are further put into context in analyzing the theological outcomes of justification by faith within New Perspective on Paul, arguing that competitive and contrastive models of divine-human interaction create the boundaries and problems of a doxastic faith. This work engages with theological and biblical scholars to identify a non-competitive and non-contrastive model of divine-human initiation by which a non-mechanistic and pneumatological concept of faith may be crafted that overcomes problems inherent in doxastic concepts of faith.
