Abstract
Home Storage is a play in three acts, examining the issue of child abuse and long term imprisonment, as well as themes of repression and impulse. It focuses on Eleanor’s growing suspicion of her husband Nigel, whilst also portraying his life with his imprisoned daughter Marie. Eleanor’s eventual discovery of her husband’s secret forces the two hermitically sealed worlds to break down, and Nigel’s control and order to be compromised. The play focuses on an understated, domestic perspective on evil, attempting to portray the complexities of a single person and the society that surrounds them. It dismantles the binary oppositions between good and evil whilst resisting a portrayl of violence. The thesis also includes a critical analysis of the play
